But I can't quit you.
I did it. I quit Twitter. Most of my real friends on Twitter are also on Facebook. So every post they put on Twitter...you guessed it, they also posted on Facebook. I was getting all of their information twice.
I followed a bunch of celebrities. That was fun. Especially the Modern Family group.
But it was time to give it up. I still miss it. I still think about going back for a lookie-loo. I haven't though. Good for me.
I'm going to try to put a little more effort into this blog. I have a couple of friends who aren't on Facebook with me. I still need to entertain them. :)

TEN POUNDS GONE!
Still trying to walk and to keep my calories down.
I fudged up a little last night. I took The Boy to the Pizza Ranch for supper after piano lessons. I had six pieces of pizza. Six crazy, delicious pieces. BBQ Chicken, Pineapple & Canadian Bacon, and Garlic & Cheese. MMMMMMMM. I paid for it later though. I haven't eaten greasy food for about three weeks. You can see where this is going, can't you? I'll just let you take it from here.

Sometimes things...
don't go according to plan.
When we moved up here to Iowa, I thought, "Good. Now I can finally lose weight. I won't be able to eat out at every lunch and I won't be sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day."
Let's take a moment to laugh at that.
I weight more now than I ever have. Sure, I don't eat out at lunch every day. Probably 95% of the time, I make something here at home. And because I don't work eight hours a day, I'm within walking distance to the kitchen 24/7 most days.
I also eat the majority of my suppers here at home. Our dining prospects are few and far between in this tiny town. Plus, I can make some pretty tasty meals.
When I stepped on the scale nine days ago, I said a few choice words and decided to buckle down.
I started my DIEt on a Friday. I didn't want to wait until Monday. Now, now, now. Something had to be done.
I started walking, eating less and not snacking.
I lost five pounds in one week.
Zoinks!
Then a Fireman friend suggested the Lose It! application for the iTouch. He and a bunch of his Fireman friends use it and it has been working for them. I downloaded that puppy and went to town! I put in my starting weight(I used the current weight, not the weight I was a week before.), my age and my goal and it gave me a suggested caloric intake. I have only used it three days, but I haven't gone over my calories yet.
It is SO hard! I have been able to treat myself with a small chocolate cone or a couple of Hershey's Kisses, but that has been fine for me. I don't want a large chocolate cone or the entire bag of Hershey's Kisses. (That's a lie. Of course I do. But I choose not to.)
This morning, I was down four more pounds. Nine pounds in nine days. I know that is way more than is recommended, but I don't feel like I am denying myself of food. I'm having a salad at least once a day. I'm having carbs and proteins. I've cut back to MAYBE one Pepsi a day. (Throwback Pepsi is 150 calories. I have to really want it.)
(I just had to go check that one can wasn't two servings which would have thrown me WAY off! It isn't. Whew.)
I went to my closet and tried on my capri pants this morning. I can tell they have loosened up!
I just hope I can stay with this change.

That's a spicy meat-a-ball!
I am so looking forward to making these!
Heinz and Ocean Spray has teamed up to help make entertaining just a little bit easier.
The recipe?
Ingredients
* 1 16-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
* 1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce
* 1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs
Directions
Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.
Makes 30 appetizer servings.
Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.
Doesn't this sound crazy delicious? Mom Central sent me the cranberry sauce and the chili sauce so all I need is the meatballs. I think I will make them for a Christmas dinner appetizer.
Head over to Ultimate Party Meatballs for more goodies, including recipes, entertaining tips and a sweepstakes!
If you try them before I get a chance to, let me know how they are!

Pocky!
Our Cub Scouts were talking about the Chinese New Year last night at their meeting. I took some Chinese snacks for them to experience. The licorice prunes didn't go over well, but the Pocky? They devoured it.

Half Pint
Laura Ingalls: Hard working folks only smell bad to people who have nothing better to do than stick their noses in the air! Well, whenever you stick your nose in the air with me, Nellie Oleson, it's going to get punched!
______________
I felt like we were living in the little house in the big woods this morning. My son went to school with biscuits and beef jerky for lunch. (And a tin cup to get water from the well. Not Really.)
(Hey, it is what he wanted. He also got some goldfish and some Hershey's 100 calorie something or the others.)

Size Matters
So I *finally* found a place online to get some of these. The Boy loves boiled egg whites and I thought these would be awesome.

But, the eggs were only large and not jumbo so they didn't fill the molds well.

Next time, we are getting bigger eggs.

I still want the molds that are in the shape of a bear and a car and any others that they make. If you know where I can get some, let me know!

Cat Head Biscuits
I was talking to the Commander today about biscuits and gravy. Where he grew up, they never had biscuits and gravy (or fried okra or black eyed peas or Frito pie, but that's three whole other stories). I told him I needed to get my Granny's recipe for cat head biscuits.
Him - What?
Me - Cat head biscuits.
Him - What?
Me - You know, you squeeze off a lumps of dough about the size of a cat's head and bake them.
Him - You're nuts.
We have a small family cookbook, but the recipe wasn't in it. So, I called my mom and asked her for the recipe for cat head biscuits.
Her - What?
Me - Cat. Head. Biscuits.
Her - Where did you hear that?
Me - I remember one of you guys talking about making cat head biscuits.
Her - I've never heard of them.
Me - I didn't just pull it out of my hind-end.
Her - Well, I don't know whose hind-end you pulled it out of, but I have no idea what you are talking about.
Sigh, my family. They loves me so.
Any of you internet lovelies ever heard of cat head biscuits? Was it your hind-end I pulled it out of?

The Boy and I were movie watching fools this weekend.
We put the tree up, built a fire in the fireplace and watched The Santa Clause 3 on Friday night.
We watched Shrek 3 and Deck the Halls on Saturday.
Sunday, I got up early (Not by choice. My internal clock radio hates me.) and watched Waitress. ( Nathan Fillion is a cutiepie.) You must see this movie.
Later that evening...Hairspray! My favorite lyric? Maybelle's "Who wants a twig when you can climb the whole tree"!
To top it all off, Sunday evening I made Sarah's Mom's Chili again and Pink Stuff. This, I know my mom knows about. It is her recipe in the cookbook. Cool Whip, cottage cheese (the only way I will eat it), dry strawberry jello, bananas, and crushed pinapple. Nom, nom, nom.

The Cough - Day 23
Advair, Avelox, Methylprednisolone and Tessalon Perles.
The doctor didn't seem concerned about the blood specks. He did seem concerned that I was still coughing. He thinks it is just irritation from the original cold/allergies.
I'm now on my second go round of antibiotics. He said he doesn't like to prescribe them because he thinks they are overused, but he thought I really needed them.
Plus, steriods! Woo. I will now eat my weight in food. Stand back. It isn't going to be pretty.
Tessalon Perles? Don't let them dissolve in your mouth. Swallow them whole. Although you may have been told to take them instead of cough drops, they aren't lozenges. At all. Trust me.
I have since had three more people tell me there is something going around that has a cough that lasts forever.
Oh, and the rib pain? I have never had a broken rib, but this is what I imagine it feels like. Right below my left chesticle it aches a little, but when I cough, I have to clutch my ribs and say, "Ow!" (or if I'm alone I say something quite different. It involves stomp dancing and popsicle sticks.)

The little church ladies are selling their hand-made peanut brittle at the craft fair again. I got five bags of it. They took my phone number so they could call me later to see if I want some more. Duh. I should be in the brittle of the month club and they should automatically send it to me. I love this stuff.
I'm trying to decide - peanut brittle first and then a nap or vice versa?
